Hello Everyone!

Now that we have ventured into the raiding realm of SWTOR and have determined that we are awesome at it. I'd like to give a quick read for those of you that are new to raiding and/or new to TBW raiding.

Raid Environment

Raid Leaders should be respectable to the whole group. Even in times where the raid isn't going as planned! Positivity and fun makes the whole raid a much more enjoyable and productive venture and this starts with the person doing the most talking. Pretty sure there was a study at Stanford that further explains this. Raid leaders should also have knowledge of the raid or a willingness to learn and formulate an attack plan. Furthermore, they should be open to any suggestions a fellow raider may have.

Raiders should also show their raid leaders and fellow raiders respect. Vent should be kept clear during fights and fight briefings and orders should always be followed. BUT we will break this rule in the case of suggestions. Because these encounters are new to us, we are all learning. Today showed us that we have some brilliant minded raiders and cooperative planning is key. Please don't be afraid to give out your suggestions or ask for a further explanation of an encounter.

For those of you who haven't seen it, you can read TBW's code of conduct at the bottom of THIS link.

Encounter Roles

Tanks

The tanks main role is to get as much damage as possible from an encounter on themselves to prevent damage done to roles who can't take damage. This is usually done by getting all enemies to attack themselves.

Secondly, they must mitigate the damage done to themselves, whether is be through gear or moves that lessen damage.

Lastly, they should mitigate the amount of damage done to the rest of the raid by using any ability that "intercepts" damage.

Healers

Healers main role is to keep everyone alive who has received damage. This is obviously done by healing abilities. They should be observant of everyone's position in case of somebody needing emergency heals. Healers should use their knowledge of encounters to heal proactively, rather than reactively.

Damage(dpsers)

Damage roles are to... damage, and to do as much damage possible. IMO, this is a very underrated role in an encounter. While a dpser may only see the life drain from a boss, they are making everyone else's job easier: healers will have to heal less damage, tanks will take less damage, and, most importantly, enrage timers will be beat so the boss doesn't wipe the whole raid.

In the case of multiple enemies, dpers should be knowledgeable of which enemy should be focused.

dpers should also avoid as much damage as possible. If it is possible to avoid incoming damage, unless otherwise directed to, you should attempt to avoid it. Remember that healing avoidable damage is taking time away from the tanks who need it!

To Everyone

Remember that no role is more important than the other. If the tank doesn't control damage, people die and healers run out of juice. If healers healers don't replenish life, people die. If damage doesn't do enough damage, either enrage kills everyone or healers run out of juice. EVERYONE in a raid has an important role!

Now enough of that crap! I want to open this up to any discussion or further raiding tip. I'll even start it off...

Question: Why did you write this Pit's?
Answer: I was bored and want to feel important.

Tip: If an enemy attacks you and you are not a tank, run to the tank. Don't run away!

Blood's 3 rules to raiding

If the tank dies its the healers fault

If the healer dies its the tanks fault

If the dps dies it is their own fault.
