STO Wants (A Wishlist)

Yep, Star Trek Online is an excellent game. Like others, it's occasionally plauged with issues but overall, none of us would still be playing if it weren't as good as it is.

That said, nothing is ever perfect and while it seems like the devs are moving forward, I think there are somethings they could do to make it an even better experience. This is simply my wishlist for STO. I'm sure other people have others so share below!

1) Fix some of the older bugs There are issues in the game that have been there for quite some time that don't seem to get addressed. With the constant patching, you'd think they could sneak in the occasional older bug fix.

2) New content: Yep, featured episodes are rolling out every week now. Barring the bugs in the first week, they're fun so far and they push a new story line forward. Hopefully one that will continue. When I say new content, what I mean is more full content. Full story lines with perhaps the Borg or even new races from the Gamma Quadrant. However you do it, let's get some long-form, deep story lines going.
While they're at it, how about new ranks? Most other MMOs that I've played, as they've expanded, they've increased the levels you can obtain. What about a "Fleet Admial" rank at 60 that allows special abilities, etc.? Maybe there are other ranks I'm not thinking of but sitting at VA is losing it's luster. (Higher ranks means more chances to get say, MkXIII or MkXIV gear?)

3) Don't push ads at me: Telling me every person who gets a Cardassian ship is getting on my nerves. I pay for my subscription. If you want to push ads to freepers then have at it but as a paying subscriber, I don't want, nor do I expect to see ads. And let's face, that's what those pop-ups are. Ads. I get that Cryptic needs to make money or STO goes away. FtP has launched and they need to stay viable. Ok, so that leads to my next point!

4) Master Keys: Great concept, poor execution. Again, Cryptic needs to make money and the Cardassian Master Keys is to me, a great way to do it. Give us the items, make us pay to unlock them. The system needs fixed though. Big time. How? Easy:
-Better rewards (Yes, even in the green boxes)
-Let paying subscribers unlock them for free. (Again, you already get my money)
-Use the lock boxes as a way for freepers to get items that are otherwise restricted to paying subscribers. That way, you're getting something from them if they want the best gear.

5)Apps: I love my phone and I love my tablet. Just wish I could play STO on them. While a full game client simply won't happen (at least until Windows 8 tablets start hitting) a great app would be one that would allow me to access duty officers, the bank, inventory and even sill Respec right on my handheld device. Anything that doesn't actually have to do with gameplay could be put into an app and charged for. I'd happily pay $2 or $3 for a tablet app that would allow this.
As well, if Cryptic doesn't want to code the apps themselves, they could simply create an API that would allow 3rd party developers to do it for them. Let's face it, most STO players are geeks and I'm willing to bet there's more than one code monkey playing the game. Support the community by letting them get something for their work.

That's about it for now. A bit longer than I wanted the post to be but I think I got it all out there. What's on your wishlist?

2.1 or 2A) Alternate ways of getting gear. There comes a point where Data Chips because useless, and I really wish we had a way of turning say 100 of these in for just 1 peice of MK 12.

Also, PvP!! PvP needs some lovin', more maps more action and hopefully a sector space thats open warfare (you see a Fed/Kling flying around, you can attack them)

Not sure if this should still be part of 2 as it is content or if it should be 6) Co-op control starships! I fly and shoot phasers, and someone else actives BOFF abilties and crew powers (say repairs) so basically its 2 people 1 ship, basically turning STFs into 10 Mans!!

I like your idea of open sector space combat. A la WoW, a challenge is issued and the fight ensues until one of the people hits 1% hull. That would be fun to watch and participate in!

yea that would be like a duel system. I meant more like...I've set course to planet 13-37 and mid-flight a Raptor decloaks and shoots me in the back...I call for help and sure enough Krog decloaks and kills the klingon.."Thanks Krog!!" then I get hit with a Quantum Torpedo Spread and I hear "no one kills the black watch but me!!"....type of thing...

Also, I would LOVE to be able to make the in-game cursor BIGGER or have some way to customize it. I get so wrapped up in killing probes that when I need to heal myself I lose track of the dang thing.
